I NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER
OF FASHION TO TRANSFORM.
I spent a morning in the Camilla studio to capture an image for my first editor’s letter and to prepare I had the luxury of exploring the entire collection. I only needed one option to wear, two to be safe, but I couldn’t resist and had to take more. And once photographer Myles Klaus started shooting I couldn’t help but play as each outfit required a different energy: playful, sassy, casual and powerful.
I’M KELLIE HUSH, former Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s BAZAAR Australia, co-founder of the Australian Fashion Council, a Creative Director and Camilla’s new Editor-at-Large. I have lived, dreamed and breathed fashion for 25 years and travelled the world experiencing the most incredible, and iconic, fashion moments. I was front row at the 2014 Chanel supermarket show in Paris, I danced with Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian at the Harper’s BAZAAR’s ICONS party at New York’s Plaza Hotel in 2016 and in 2018 I danced again, this time in a church yard, as Elton John played live after the Gucci Cruise show in Arles, Provence. And I met iconic Camilla Franks for the very first time at her very first collection launch at her parents’ home.
Over the years, I have also seen many trends come and go (extreme low-rise jeans, nameplate necklaces), and some return over and over (animal prints) but what never goes out of fashion … is FASHION CONFIDENCE. When you wear something you love and feel great in, you feel amazing. I’ve always employed this rule: give away or donate anything that I don’t love wearing. If it doesn’t make me feel awesome, then it needs a new home. And that’s why my day in the Camilla studio was so much fun because I loved every one of those pieces I was photographed in.
I think you can tell.
What I hope to bring to you as Editor-at-Large is my love of fashion and why it’s transformative. Also, what I personally adore in the Camilla collection and how I would style it. Plus. I’ll uncover the depth of creativity that Camilla pours into each new collection and how it can transform your own wardrobe and ultimately your mood.
This is going to be fun, I promise you.
