CAMILLA is more than just a fashion brand. We commit to being a platform for change in the communities we hold close to our hearts. We rise by lifting others and we remain committed to helping as many beautiful souls as we can along our journey. Each new place we visit, each face we see, and each voice that passes along knowledge to us, opens our eyes and our hearts wider. Our full-hearted vision is to empower and improve the lives of others. We are always seeking to break down barriers and bring about lasting positive change. Here are a few of the ways we have been doing that, hand in hand with you.
“I always wanted CAMILLA to be a symbol of love, joy, and inclusivity. Our dream is to drive change for future generations and create a brighter future for all. I’m proud that we’re now renowned not just for our products, but for our community. A human collective of all ages, genders, shapes, colors, abilities, lifestyles, faiths, and sexualities. I strive to use my voice and our platforms to fortify this community; our family - to share inspiring stories, to educate and encourage action in this world, and come together supportively.” - Camilla Franks
At CAMILLA, our long-running mission is to make people feel empowered as their strongest selves. That’s why we choose to support organisations that drive positive change in the communities we operate in.
As part of this mission, we are actively committed to helping to stop child marriage, supporting the education of women and girls, preventing women dying from breast cancer, and protecting victims of domestic violence.
Through our partnership with i=change, $1 from every online order is distributed to our three major charity partners: The Hunger Project, National Breast Cancer Foundation, and Women’s Community Shelter.
To date, though i=Change, CAMILLA has donated more than $687,281 to charity.
CAMILLA commits to continuing to support the programs and partnerships we feel can achieve the greatest social or environmental benefits in our communities.
Every single one of your purchases makes a difference. Together, our donations go towards funding projects such as:
EMPOWER A LEADER
The Hunger Project
The Hunger Project works in rural villages in Africa, India, Bangladesh and Latin America, pioneering sustainable, grassroots, women-centered strategies to end hunger. Through their programs on education, microfinance, agriculture and health, they empower people in these countries. In areas of Bangladesh, up to 62% of girls under 18 are married. These girls are denied their childhood and can suffer from developmental issues due to early pregnancy. They are vulnerable to STDs, increased risk of domestic violence and have limited opportunities for education and employment.
PREVENT WOMEN DYING
the National Breast Cancer Foundation
Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Australia. One in seven women will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and eight Australian women lose their life every day. NBCF is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research to create a better tomorrow for all those impacted.
PROTECT A WOMAN
Women's Community Shelters
THE HUNGER PROJECT
CAMILLA is a long-term supporter of The Hunger Project, specifically the Elected Women Representative Program (EWR), which impacts 175 village councils in Rajasthan. As part of this program, The Hunger Project (THP) continues to engage with the elected women in various activities to build their capabilities as leaders and give them the confidence to advocate for their rights. Some of the achievements so far have been:
DIGITAL AND FINANCIAL LITERACY
In India, there is a digital gender divide that has limited women’s access to technology, hindering their empowerment and gender equality. THP-India and the elected women decided to initiate conversations about the benefits and uses of technology with other women in the community to begin to close the digital gap.
WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
Rural women play a significant role in managing land and are usually responsible for collecting water and waste management. Because of this, their education and knowledge of water and environmental conservation is crucial for sustainable living.
SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS/ PETITIONS TO GOVERNMENT
EWR meetings also provide guidance and training on submitting proposals or petitions to government officials regarding various issues in the village councils. Through the learnings at these meetings, the EWRs have submitted several proposals to the government including on staff recruitment in schools, improving quality of nutrition in creche centres, and revising social security schemes.
THE NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION
Camilla Franks has a long-standing relationship with the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Camilla became involved with NBCF after she was directly impacted by breast cancer, only a few months after giving birth to her beautiful daughter Luna, in 2018. Since then, as an NBCF Ambassador, Camilla has raised vital awareness and an incredible $100,000 through her partnership with NBCF.
PRIDE
CAMILLA is proud to stand together with our beloved LGBTQIA+ community. At key points during the year, we support charities such as ACON – which provides counselling programs and support services that improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people and their families – by donating $1 from online orders through i=Change. Camilla Franks is a long-time ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and continues to raise her voice to call us to come together and be part of a global movement towards change.
UNICORN CHARITY BAGS
When women support each other, incredible things happen. That’s why we collaborated with our charity partner Community Support Services (CSS) Village to produce one-of-a-kind drawstring bags and tote bags made from leftover textile print strike-offs. Each one-of-a-kind piece is sewn by hand for CAMILLA. As well as reusing print strike-offs, this project helps to teach a valuable skill and provide financial independence to the beautiful warrior women who need it most. The Unicorn Charity Bags project began during the pandemic, when many community and charity projects were on hold. Community Support Services started a small sewing circle to provide sewing therapy. All profits from the purchase of Unicorn Charity Bags are donated to The Hunger Project’s Elected Women Representatives Program in Rajasthan, which enables women to leverage their positions to create change in their communities.
VOLUNTEER WORK
CAMILLA encourages our tribe to become involved in their communities, lending their voluntary support to programs that positively impact the quality of life within these communities. CAMILLA's tribe members are encouraged to serve as volunteers in non-profit community programs that are either of personal interest or are company-sponsored initiatives. Volunteer Time Tribe members may take one day of paid time off annually to participate in their specific volunteer program. This could be working with a Charity nominated by the CSR Committee, or they may elect to use the day in support of one of their own preferred charities.
