As such, we have an elevated responsibility to ensure that all people across our supply chain are respected, empowered, and protected. This begins with a high level of visibility into the practices of our suppliers. Understanding our major suppliers with supply chain mapping and targeted assessments continues to deepen our understanding of our key partners’ workforce and serves as a clear framework to review and respond to the risk of modern slavery.

OUR KEY PARTNER
The story of Camilla’s key partner in India goes all the way back to the early days. Camilla was travelling around India, in the hope of finding talented local artisans to connect with. She knew that she had a story to tell the world through her unique and vibrant prints, and wanted to ensure her creations were brought to life with authenticity, integrity and craftsmanship.
“At a time where almost anything could be replicated and craftsmanship was being abandoned for commercial gain, I sought to create something utterly original. Made intentionally. Made slowly. Made with love.”
On this trip, Camilla met a businessman who had recently set up a digital printing factory. They mutually agreed to create a venture with a vision for a global print house. Together, they would bring Camilla’s designs to life.
Our partner in India has highly skilled workers to execute the meticulous print placement. Hand cutting of silk garments is a highly involved process and requires precision to ensure that placement is perfect. In addition, there is a team of artisans dedicated to bespoke embroidery and crystals designs that are all attached with exactitude by hand.
The print house started with just one factory and 20 workers. They now employee 1300 people across 3 factories, 1 print mill and head office.
Our key partner’s workforce has been very loyal: more than 30% of workers employed have been there for between 8-12 years. The environment has always adopted an approach of “family culture for open feedback in a comfortable workplace”.
There is financial support provided for marriage, education, and medical purposes. During the pandemic lockdown, Covid tests and vaccinations were offered to workers, along with free medication and doctor’s consultations when needed. Importantly, they also created a system that allowed working-from-home for many of the staff during the lockdown period.
Now 17 years on, this partnership is bound by a collaborative strength; a complex and honest relationship with a common goal.
The CAMILLA team is at the heart of everything we do. Everyone is welcome at the CAMILLA party and, naturally, the CAMILLA team is no different. We’re dedicated to creating a diverse, empowered team and fostering an environment of innovation, transparency, integrity and freedom.
MISSION STATEMENT
At CAMILLA, we are on a mission to ‘colour the world’ through our vibrant prints, to drive meaningful and positive community change, and to protect our muse, Mother Earth.
